about the author: Juliet Clare Bell wrote The Kite Princess while bringing up her young family, working in twenty-minute sessions on park benches or at the swimming pool. Before becoming a mother she worked in research as a developmental psychologist. She now coordinates the central west region of the Society of Childrens' Book Writers and Illustrators and runs critique groups. She lives in Birmingham with her husband and three children.
