Freya Blackwood is a rising star in the international world of children's books. She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and grew up in Orange in NSW, Australia. Freya's Amy & Louis (written by Libby Gleeson) won the 2007 CBCA Picture Book of the Year for Younger Readers, and was published in Australia, US, Germany, France and Korea. Danny Parker was born in the UK. He has been a nurse, an undertaker and an actor. He is now a teacher in Perth, Western Australia, and is married with two children, for whom he sometimes plays the part of a parachute. Roddy Doyle lives in Ireland with his wife, Belinda and their two children. Scotland native Freya Blackwood grew up and currently lives in Orange, NSW, about three and a half hours west of Sydney (Australia). Creativity is in her blood. Her mother, Kay, is a painter and jeweler, and her father, John, is an architect. As her grandfather was also a painter, there was ample influence and encouragement in artistic pursuits as she grew up.
