The artist, Mike Gordon, specialises in humorous illustrations and has won several awards for his work. He is based in Santa Barbara in California. Daniel Postgate is the son of Oliver Postgate, creator of such classics as Ivor the Engine, The Clangers and Noggin the Nog. The Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, were German professors whose collections of folk tales and fairy tales have been loved for generations. The Unknown Adventurer is still believed to be at large in the wild. Helen Armstrong has worked as a professional teacher and trainer, and writes training guides on child welfare and child safety. She is married and lives in Wiltshire. Ann Kronheimer is an illustrator living in London.

This book contains the following story:

Little Red Riding Hood
Little Red Riding Hood as told by Charles Perrault tells of the good little girl who divulges to the Big Bad Wolf the location of her grandmother's house in the forest. Wolf eats grandma then lies in wait for Little Red. She arrives and is eaten by the wolf. In later versions of the story Red and her Grandma are saved by the Huntsman who cuts open the wolf and pulls the living, breathing Red and Granny from the wolf's belly.
