Damian Harvey has worked as a hospital radio presenter, painter-decorator, and swimming instructor, as well as writing several books for children. He lives in Blackpool, Lancashire. Karen Wallace is an award-winning author of children's books for all ages. Her Goose Pimple Bay Sagas was a World Book Day recommended read in 2008 and Li Fu's Great Aim was chosen for the 2008 Boys into Books Promotion. Karen has also created the popular Alice the Anteater books. Ellie O'Shea is a coffee addict, an avid snowboarder and bad joke teller. She completed her degree in Illustration in Plymouth and is now living in Worcester with her (equally bad joke-telling) boyfriend. They love lazy Sundays and watching cartoons all day, which are her biggest inspiration for drawing. She has always loved watching cartoons and when she was around 8 she decided, 'Hey, I want to draw like that!'. So she picked up her pencil, and here she is.

Reading Champion
Reading Champion is an innovative new series, designed to support and enrich children’s reading experiences. It is the first ever officially levelled independent reading programme linking to the guided reading that pupils are doing in the classroom. Developed in consultation with University College London (UCL) Institute of Education (IOE). The scheme supports children to practise and embed their developing reading skills with independent reading books linked to the guided reading book band they are using at school. It engages children in reading with original stories featuring a broad range of interests, real-life experiences and diverse characters, so that children can identify with characters and settings. Levelling you can trust; each book has been produced in collaboration with the consultants at UCL IOE to ensure it provides the right level of challenge for reading independently. Books have been specifically written to support independent reading, using clear sentence structures and accessible vocabulary that children are able to understand easily or decode. The scheme provides plenty of opportunity for practice and lots of choice with a minimum of six books in each band. It deepens engagement and encourages enjoyment of reading with fun activities to reinforce learning at the end of each book, as well as providing a whole school solution to independent reading, from Reception to upper Key Stage 2 (or children aged 4-11).
