Enter a strange new world where being a witch gets really boring, and where ghostly Blobbers inhabit the Forest of Air. We meet Joe, a seemingly normal boy, who joins the witch Hilda Harris on a search for the Free Magic Zone - where she can get some free, (and hopefully) useful magic. Their adventure takes many twists and turns, from castles in Wales to the terrifying Torrents of Brac. Hilda and Joe meet Blobbers good and bad, help dragons with toothache and even manage to foil the Evil Croaker.
