This CD-Rom accompanies the Collins Big Cat guided reading series for ages 6--7. It provides 4 fiction and 4 non-fiction talking book versions of books from the series, plus a fully interactive non-fiction text that children can explore and use to build their own text. The talking books on this CD-ROM can be used by children working independently or in small groups. Each book is supported by a choice of activities, from matching to sequencing to supported free writing. The interactive story on this CD-ROM enables children to become actively involved in creating a text. Through supported choices, they create a story that is unique to them, which they can tell to the class, or print out and collate into a book.

Jonathan was born in 1965, the son of a rig fitter and a primary school teacher. He first developed his skills as a writer and illustrator while studying architecture, illustrating poems and lyrics that he had written. After leaving college, he worked as an architect for several years, before pursuing a career in children's books. In addition to writing books such as Bringing Down the Moon, and Ruby Flew Too, he also paper-engineers pop-up books.
