Initially trained and working as a Fine Artist, Jon Hughes made the shift to traditional illustration by the mid 1980's, making the transition to Digital 2&3D work in 1998, and has been continuing to attract commissions, with numerous published titles to his name. Clients have included: The Natural History Museum London, National Geographic, American Museum of Natural History, National Museum of Scotland, Canadian Museum of Nature, Alaska Heritage Museum, to name but a few. Jonathan was born in 1965, the son of a rig fitter and a primary school teacher. He first developed his skills as a writer and illustrator while studying architecture, illustrating poems and lyrics that he had written. After leaving college, he worked as an architect for several years, before pursuing a career in children's books. In addition to writing books such as Bringing Down the Moon, and Ruby Flew Too, he also paper-engineers pop-up books.
