She remembers lighting Friday night candles with her own grandmother as a child, saying, "It's a lovely tradition. Time with a grandparent is very special and children remember it always. " Amy lives in New York City. Claire A. Nivola is a painter and sculptor and has illustrated several children's picture books. Her illustrations are filled with wonderful decorative details inspired by the furnishings and objects around her. She says, "The rooms in The Friday Nights of Nana are a composite of the various places I have lived in throughout my life. Claire lives in Massachusetts with her husband and two children.
