Satoshi Kitamura is a Japanese children's picture book author and illustrator, famous for his watercolours and quirky characters. Gerard Benson lives in Yorkshire. He is a poet, story-teller, singer and performer whose travels have taken him all over the world. He has told stories to children in an African garden, a Channel Islands zoo and a Thames cruiser, as well as schools, concert halls and theatres. he has had many jobs, amongst them sailor, actor, teacher, washer-upper and university lecturer. He now writes and gives readings and writing workshops to children and adults. Gerard Benson, Judith Chernaik and Cicely Herbert are practising poets and founders of the "Poems on the Underground" scheme which places poetry on London's tube network. The scheme has been adopted in many countries all over the world and has spawned hugely successful books. Satoshi Kitamura is a Mother Goose Award-winning author/illustrator, a prize awarded to the most exciting newcomer to children's book illustration (for "Angry Arthur"). He was born in Tokyo.
