He lives in South Pasadena, California. Deborah Marcero is an artist and author. She received a BFA in drawing, printmaking, and photography from the University of Michigan, and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Writing. After teaching in Chicago Public Schools as a Literacy Specialist, Deborah realized that writing and creating books for kids was how she wanted to spend her life. Christine Heppermann has been a reviewer and columnist for the Horn Book magazine since 1996. She used to work for Wild Rumpus Bookstore, where she especially enjoyed leading a middle grade book club, feeding mealworms to the salamander, and taking Elmo the iguana out on a leash for a walk.
