Robert Anderson is a freelance author and editor who has written and managed several books for children including most recently Nations of the World, Steck Vaugh, USA and the Gallery series for DeAgostini. He lives in St Ives, Cornwall, England. Tom Jackson is the author of over 60 natural science books for children. He is a zoologist and has worked in publishing for many years. Michael Allaby has written numerous books on nature, the environment, and weather, including Facts On File's highly successful Dangerous Weather set, two of the four volumes in the Ecosystem set, and the recently published two-volume Encyclopedia of Weather and Climate. He resides in Tighnabruaich, Scotland. Richard Beatty has a degree in life sciences, and is an experienced editor of scientific encyclopaedia and dictionaries. He has written many articles on scientific and technical subjects. Chris Woodford graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Natural Sciences. He is a science writer working for various newspapers, magazines and scientific journals as well an author. He lives in Dorset. Tim Harris has been fascinated by all aspects of the natural world since a young age. After studying Norwegian glaciers at university, his quest for wildlife has seen him explore the giant dunes of the Namib Desert, climb the slopes of Popocatapetl in Mexico, camp in the Sumatran rainforest, and search the frozen Sea of Okhotsk for sea-eagles. Tim has written books about nature and the environment for both children and adults, including the award-winning Migration Hotspots: the World's Best Bird Migration Sites.
