The story follows two friends, Drew Brockman and Walker, who are looking to get revenge on their former friends, Tabby and Lee, who had previously pulled cruel Halloween pranks on them. Drew and Walker, with the help of their other friend Shane, come up with a plan to scare Tabby and Lee by luring them into a spooky part of the neighborhood on Halloween night. However, things quickly take a terrifying turn when they encounter giant, glowing pumpkin-headed creatures—referred to as Attack-O-Lanterns—that come to life and start hunting them. As the night progresses, it becomes unclear whether the creatures are just an elaborate prank or something far more sinister. The friends find themselves trapped in a nightmare, unsure if they'll make it through the night or if the curse of the Attack-O-Lanterns will claim them. Filled with twists, jump-scares, and the signature eerie atmosphere of the Goosebumps series, this book is a spooky and fun read that taps into classic Halloween fears and the consequences of trying to scare others.
