"Rent Party Jazz" by Charlotte Riley Webb follows the story of a young girl named Mabel as she navigates life in 1920s Harlem during the jazz age. Struggling to make ends meet, her family hosts "rent parties" where music and community come together to raise money. Mabel's love for jazz blossoms, and she becomes entangled with a group of musicians and artists who inspire her dreams. As she confronts the challenges of poverty, race, and ambition, Mabel discovers her own voice and the power of community, ultimately forging her path in a vibrant yet tumultuous era.
