The Ratz is based on the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, but places the same dilemmas in a more contemporary context. Through role-play and the suggested improvisations, the actors develop the characters and the action of every scene in the play. Script and extension materials can be used as a lead-in to workshops in drama Ideas and scenes are built into the text so that workshops and groups can work towards a production of the play
