Great for age 3-6 years
Twelve poems to celebrate Christmas from the master poet Charles Causley, including five new poems written especially for this collection. Each poem explores a different facet of the Christmas season - from the challenge of 'The Ballad of the Bread Man' and the joyful exuberance of 'Angels' Song' to the lighthearted 'Parson's Lea' and the wry humor of 'Christmas Pudding'. The poems are perfectly matched by Lisa Kopper's rich and vibrant illustrations. This is a collection that truly captures the spirit of Christmas, a book to keep and treasure.

Charles Causley was born in Cornwall, and apart from six years spent in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, lived there all his life. He was one of Britain's foremost poets, writing for both adults and children. He was awarded the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry in 1967 and appointed CBE in 1986. In 1987 he won the Kurt Maschler Award for Jack the Treacle Eater and in 1990 the Ingersoll/T. S. Eliot Award of America. Charles Causley died in 2003. Lisa Kopper was born in the US and moved to Britain after completing her studies at the University of Carnegie-Melon, Pennsylvania. She started to illustrate books in 1979 and is probably best-known for her collaboration with Hugh Lewin on the JAFTA books. She works with children of all ages, talking about book illustration and drawing, and with adults on the Third World and multi-cultural illustration.
