In "That Squeak" by Carolyn Beck, a young girl named Mona finds herself growing increasingly frustrated with a persistent squeaking noise in her house. It disrupts her daily life, and every attempt to ignore it fails. As she investigates the source of the squeak, Mona discovers it's linked to her family's hidden stories and history. Through her journey, she learns about patience, understanding, and the importance of embracing the quirky aspects of her life. The story explores themes of curiosity, familial bonds, and the charm of imperfections, ultimately leading Mona to appreciate the unique tapestry of her home.
