Caroline Ness was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and now lives in England. Her previous books include a child's guide to astrology, Star Signs, and a series of stories about a dog called Lucy. Neil Philip is a writer and folklorist whose previous books include The Illustrated Book of Myths and The Adventures of Odysseus. He has an M. A. in English Language and Literature from Oxford University and a Ph. D. from London University in Children's Literature and Folklore. Jacqueline Mair is known for her vivid colour and pattern. She has exhibited widely, including a one-woman touring exhibition in Calcutta, Madras, Delhi and Bombay. She has made extended trips to India and studied colour etching at Shantiniketan University in Bengal. Her many books include Folktales of Mexico, and Folktales of America, both published in new editions by Armadillo, as well as I Have a News: Rhymes from the Caribbean, and The Bottle Imp. Neil Philip is a writer and a critic with an interest in the fairy tale. About the Editor: Neil Philip is a writer, folklorist and poet and loves the art of storytelling in all its forms. Among his many books are Poets of the Inuit, The Adventures of Odysseus, and The Tale of Sir Gawain. His work has won numerous awards, including the Aesop Award of the American Folklore Award.
