This text offers a practical introduction to the common features of animals. The activities will give opportunities for children to identify living creatures, to look at the variety of animal skins and body parts and to understand that animals live in different environments. Animal sounds, life-cycles, camouflage, feeding and the need to care for animals are also covered. The activities have been designed to be as practical as possible and encourage children to use readily-available materials such as milk bottle tops, sequins, string and feathers. They will provide a firm foundation for the National Curriculum and Scottish 5-14 National Guidelines. The authors also wrote "Science from Stories", "Simply Space" and "Environmental Activities".
