Peggy Rathmann was born in Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in psychology. 'I wanted to teach sign language to gorillas,' she says, 'but after taking a class in signing, I realized what I'd rather do was draw pictures of gorillas. ' She then studied children's illustration in Los Angeles. She now lives in California. David Shannon has written and illustrated numerous award-winning books for children. His picture books include the best-sellers No, David! and David Goes To School which received numerous starred reviews. Steve D'Amico is a Senior Art Director at Smashing Ideas, Inc. He and his wife co created the Ella the Elephant picture book series. He has produced illustrations that have appeared on PBS Kids, Nick Jr. and the Disney Channel. He lives in Seattle, Washington.
