We found the old car in the shed the very first day we moved to the farm. Dad put it under the peppercorn tree. 'You kids might as well play in it for the time being,' he said. Rhys Muldoon is an Australian actor, writer, and director who has worked extensively in film, television, theater, and radio. Carla Zapel is an illustrator and graphic designer. Cate Kennedy writes fiction, non-fiction and poetry and lives in rural Victoria. Her short-story collection, Like a House on Fire (Scribe, 2012) won the 2013 Steele Rudd Prize in the Queensland Literary Awards and was shortlisted for the inaugural Stella Prize. That Car! is her first book for children. Carla Zapel is the illustrator of Jasper and Abby and the Great Australia Day Kerfuffle by Kevin Rudd and Rhys Muldoon. She has worked as an illustrator and graphic designer in London, Sydney and Canberra, and currently lives in Brisbane.
