Children are fascinated with letters from as young as three and are still singing alphabet based rhymes at the age of seven. The alphabet is a collection of 26 building blocks that we use to build a life-time of reading. In this instance the alphabet is also used to build strong biblical foundations. The gospel is explained using the following approach:
A is for Adam, B is for bad, C is for care, D is for don't, E is for Eve, F is for friends, G is for Gave, H is for Hard etc. Using a mixture of general and biblically specific words the gospel story is explained from the first day that Adam and Eve fell, through the Biblical stories of the flood and Jesus miracles, then onto the crucifixion and resurrection.
Each letter is linked to the next by a question which makes the reader want to turn the page to find out how the story progresses.
Each letter has different activities and questions linked to it. Throughout the book the children are asked to think of different things about themselves and about God. At the end there are summary sheets for the children to fill in and complete - entitled All about me; All about God.
