"Bronze and Sunflower" by Cao Wenxuan tells the poignant story of two children growing up in rural China during the Cultural Revolution. Bronze, a boy from a poor farming family, finds companionship with Sunflower, a girl from a privileged background who is sent to live with her relatives in the countryside. Their friendship blossoms amid the challenges of the harsh environment, family dynamics, and societal change. The novel explores themes of love, loyalty, and resilience, as the children navigate their contrasting worlds, ultimately discovering the profound connections that unite them despite their differences.
