Clyde Robert Bulla grew up on a farm in Missouri, attended a one-room school, and began writing stories at an early age; he has now written more than twenty children's books. After spending fifty years in Los Angeles, Mr. Bulla moved back to Missouri. Poetry for Young People: Walt Whitman was Jim Burke's first illustrated picture book, created in 1996. He has since illustrated a number of lauded children's books, including Take Me Out to the Ball Game which he created to coincide with Jack Norworth's 1908 lyrics. Jim has won numerous accolades for his paintings, including a Gold Medal from the prestigious Society of Illustrators in New York City. Jim, his wife, and their young daughter live in Brooklyn, New York.
