This series is for schools following OCR A double or separate award for GCSE science. The resources offer preparation for the OCR exams with teacher support to minimise the amount of time spent on administration and maximise the time available for teaching. In addition, the teacher's resources are available on CD-ROM in a fully customizable format to meet the needs of individual students. There are 3 books for double award (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and 3 books for separate award (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). They are written specially for OCR specification A. They provide integrated coverage of the new ideas and evidence requirements in Sc1 and prepare students for assessment in this new area. Higher tier content is clearly separated out to help students focus on what they really need to know. Full coverage and exploration of the higher tier content makes the books challenging and interesting for more able students. Key learning point summaries help students to control their own learning and key words and a glossary should aid students' understanding. There is extra help on skills that students find difficult, for example, data handling and using graphs. The separate award books include all the content for double award plus the additional content needed for separate award. The pagination for the double award material is the same in both books so double and separate award candidates can be co-taught. There is a fully supportive Teacher's Resource Pack for each of the three subjects. Each Teacher's Resource Pack is also available on CD-ROMs which contain colour artwork from the books which can be made into acetate or project onto whiteboards for whole-class teaching.

Series editor Bob McDuell has spent thirty-seven years as a teacher of Chemistry and Science in a range of schools. He has authored over 160 books from Key Stage 2 to A-level and has been a Chief Examiner since 1974. Keila V. Dawson was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the Crescent City has remained close to her heart in spite of her many travels abroad. She began her career working as a local community organizer, but she found her passion working with children as an early-childhood special-education instructor. In this, her first book, Dawson combines her love for children and her desire to keep alive the traditions of her hometown. Vernon Smith printed his first book when he was in the first grade, and he hasn't stopped illustrating since. He received the Judges' Award and the Faculty Award for drawing while at the University of New Orleans and went on to open his own studio, El MacFearsome Comic Squares. Smith is an active comic book illustrator and regularly attends comic conventions and book signings around the country. He lives with his daughter in Metairie, Louisiana.
