An investigation of the scientific principles in evidence around us, this project-book contains 60 projects that use materials around the house to create experiments in biology, weather, physics, botany, chemistry, behaviour and even consumerism. Activities range from the simple - observing evidence of wild animals - to the complex - comparing the rates of decomposition of chicken bones. The projects are designed for older students working on their own (with adult supervision) or for parents to use with younger children, and look at issues such as: how sunlight affects colours; how temperature affects smells; recycling and consumerism; finding where insects live; testing humidity indoors and out; and discovering invisible pollution.
