Project X Hero Academy is a fully decodable and finely levelled reading series set in a school for superheroes, designed to captivate and motivate all young readers and turn them into reading superheroes. Stop that Mammoth! is in Purple Book Band, Oxford Level 8, and supports Letters and Sounds Phase 6. In this story, Nisha and Jin go to the Lexis City Museum of Natural History and discover that an enormous woolly mammoth has been brought to life! Can they stop the mammoth from destroying the museum, and find out who the culprit is? Each book can be used for independent reading, but also contains inside cover notes that include help on developing vocabulary and prompt questions that can be used for guided reading and one-to-one sessions. Full guided reading notes are provided in the corresponding handbook. There are also a range of follow-up activities to support reading for pleasure.

Cas spent many years having a fabulous time, and a great deal of fun, working in children's television drama with CBBC. She developed and executive produced lots of programmes including JACKANORY, MUDDLE EARTH, THE MAGICIAN OF SAMARKAND, BIG KIDS and THE STORY OF TRACY BEAKER. Now Cas writes books for children, helps out in a primary school library (where she is Patron of Reading) and looks after her family full-time. She has four children, a daft dog called Bramble and she lives in Oxfordshire. She would absolutely love to go into space. But not on the Toxic Spew. Follow Cas on Twitter: @Cas_Lester
