Joyce and her family live in Uganda. One day her mother arrives home with a pair of rabbits. They soon have babies and Joyce becomes very fond of them. Especially one, which she names Kipenzi. When Mum says that she's going to take them to 'The Bush', a misunderstanding leads to an exciting chain of events. A warm family story told by Bernard Ashley.

She has four daughters who are now all grown up. She has absolutely no sense of direction and gets lost so often her family are scared to let her out on her own. The things she likes best are eating chocolate and reading, preferably both at the same time. Bernard John Ashley is a British author of books for children and young adults. He has won 'The Other' award and has been a commended runner up for the Carnegie medal three times.
