"Performing Matters" is a pack supporting musical performance in the classroom throughout Key Stage 3. A series of projects - including supporting teacher's material - take you through musical performance, from combating nerves and increasing confidence, through to performing short pieces. The pack includes two CDs which contain examples of performances of pieces plus backing tracks to support the projects. Projects cover a range of styles from a variety of times - from Mediaeval through to Baroque and Romantic, to Early Blues and 1940's Swing. The pack includes motivating games and warm-up exercises, plus a section devoted to increasing self-confidence and reducing nerves in performers and encouraging teamwork and performing as an ensemble. Photocopiable charts allow appraising and assessing, listening skills and performing skills, and therem are tips on teaching performing skills, using the CDs and setting up concerts.

This book is suitable for Key Stage 3. KS3 covers school years 7, 8 and 9, and ages 12-14 years. A key stage is any of the fixed stages into which the national curriculum is divided, each having its own prescribed course of study. At the end of each stage, pupils are required to complete standard assessment tasks.
