Barbara Tyler was for many years a Primary School teacher and prior to her semi-retirement worked as an Advisory Teacher for children with special needs with particular interest in the teaching of reading. She now works independently as a reading consultant and has been actively involved with the publication of reading schemes and materials in both authorial and consultancy capacities, especially with regard to the NLS. She is the National Literacy Governor of a local primary school.
