The walls of Eastern Europe have recently crumbled to reveal fascinating hidden cultures. Illustrator: Paul Hess studied graphic deisgn before going on to work as an art director in various design studios. Paul began illustrating full-time in 1991 and has illustrated several children's books. ANTONIA BARBER'S first children's novel, The Ghosts, was filmed as The Amazing Mr Blunden. The Ring in the Rough Stuff reached the Carnegie Medal shortlist, and The Mousehole Cat won the Smarties Prize Children's Choice and was later filmed for television. In 1993 Tales from Grimm, her first book for Frances Lincoln, was selected for Child Eductation Best Collections of the Year. PAUL HESS'S books include Josephine Poole's Jack and the Beanstalk and Alan MacDonald's Pig in a Wig, Malachy Doyle's The Great Case. SHENA GUILD established the film and television department of the Redwing Film Company. She is currently co-producing films and producing a series of six play for the Newcastle Playhouse. Antonia Barber's The Ghosts was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal and filmed as The Amazing Mr Blunden . The Mousehole Cat was a finalist for the Smarties Prize, winner of the 1990 British Book Award and Commended for the 1991 Kate Greenaway Medal; it was later made into an animated film. In 1993 Tales from Grimm was selected for Child Education Best Collections of the Year.
