This beautiful volume features more than 200 of Aesop's fables, selected for young readers and illustrated with engravings and color plates by Arthur Rackham, Walter Crane, and Ernest Griset. It includes such classics as: The Boy Who Cried Wolf, The Tortoise and the Hare, The City Mouse and the Country Mouse, and The Fox and the Grapes. Each fable is a polished gem whose luster never dulls.

J. M. D. Meiklejohn (1830-1902) was a Scottish educator and the author of many textbooks on language and literacy. Walter Crane (1845 1915) was an artist and book illustrator and part of the Arts and Crafts style of late Victorian illustrated literature that still influences nursery rhymes and children's stories. Arthur Rackham is acknowledged as one of the leading lights of the golden age of children's book illustration in the 1920s, winning gold medals at both the Milan and Barcelona exhibitions.
