Angel Dominguez was born in the Basque Country in 1953. He is an award-winning illustrator of more than twenty books and is known throughout Spain. His lavish work has already been compared to some of the greatest illustrators of the past century, including one of his inspirations, Arthur Rackham. Angel's art has graced postage stamps, magazine illustrations, stationary, postcards, earthenware, and more. Notable among his work is "The King's Gift," which he illustrated specifically for Queen Rania of Jordan in 2000. The art in The Jungle Book won the CCEI Award in Spain for best illustrated book. He lives with his wife in Laredo, Spain. Illustrator: Martin Ursell teaches illustration at Chelsea School of Art. He has illustrated numerous books and has a convincing style in junior 'grossology'. Author: Susan Martineau is a freelance editor and her daughter Alice and son William are just the right age to test the artistic effectiveness of the projects. ARNOLD LOBEL is the author of 28 much-loved books for children, including the acclaimed Frog and Toad series. He won the 1981 Caldecott medal for his book Fables, having previously won a Caldecott Honor in 1971 for Frog and Toad are Friends and a Newbery Honor in 1973 for Frog and Toad Together. He illustrated over 70 books throughout his career. He died in 1987. Roald Dahl was born in Wales of Norwegian parents the child of a second marriage. His father and elder sister died when Roald was just three. His mother was left to raise two stepchildren and her own four children. Roald was her only son. He had an unhappy time at school and this influenced his writing greatly. He once said that what distinguished him from most other childrens writers was this business of remembering what it was like to be young. Many of his books have been turned into films - Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, The Witches, James and The Giant Peach, Esia Trot, Fantastic Mr Fox. Roalds childhood and schooldays are the subject of his autobiography Boy. https://www. roalddahl. com/ Wanda Gag (1893-1946) was born in New Ulm, Minnesota, the daughter of an artist and the eldest of seven children. Wanda initiated the double-page spread, designing two facing pages as one panoramic scene. In recognition of her rare artistry, she was the posthumous recipient of the 1958 Lewis Carroll Shelf Award for Millions of Cats and the 1977 Kerlan Award for the body of her work. Ted Hughes was appointed Poet Laureate in 1994. His many volumes of poetry for adults include HAWK IN THE RAIN, ELMET, and MOORTOWN DIARY, and he has written widely for children, including three collections of stories, the first of which, HOW THE WHALE BECAME & OTHER STORIES, is published simultaneously in Penguin Audiobooks.
