Jack Kent (March 10, 1920-October 18, 1985) was an American cartoonist and prolific author-illustrator of forty children's books. He is perhaps best known as the creator of the comic strip, King Aroo . In addition to his own books, he has also illustrated many books by other authors. Arlene Mosel (1921-1996)'s debut children's book, Tikki Tikki Tembo , was an American Library Association Notable Book and won the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award. Mosel also wrote The Funny Little Woman , an Honor Book for the Hans Christian Andersen International Children's Book Awards. Tomie de Paola is an internationally popular illustrator and adapter of Bible stories and themes for children.
