Anthony Buckeridge wrote the original Jennings stories as radio plays which were broadcast on the BBC in the late Forties. The first Jennings book appeared in 1950, to be followed by two dozen more. He died in 2004 at the age of 92. Stuart Trotter has illustrated Brum and the Airport Adventure and Brum Pop-up.
