Term is over and Jennings is off to stay with his Aunt Angela. There he meets Emma Sparrow, who must hide her collection of stray animals from the exasperated caretaker. Jennings is pleased with his quick thinking when he comes up with a seemingly flawless plan, but with Jennings at large, things can only go disastrously wrong.

Anthony Buckeridge wrote the original Jennings stories as radio plays which were broadcast on the BBC in the late Forties. The first Jennings book appeared in 1950, to be followed by two dozen more. He died in 2004 at the age of 92.
