This guide covers 30 destinations from around the world. Feature spreads take readers on a number of classic journeys. A 19-page gazetteer at the end of the book gives details of all the destinations around the globe. The atlas is divided into five sections that include castles, palaces, ruins, and cities and landscapes. There are stories of the men and women who have lived there: a cruise down the Nile; steaming across Europe in the most luxurious train; visiting Russia's imperial past in St Petersburg; and travelling to Petra, fabled city cut out of the rose-red rock of a hidden valley in Jordan, which laid undiscovered by the world at large until the early-19th century. There are an additional 100 places listed in a special section at the back of the book.
