Though known for his work on television, in music, and in film, Jamie Foxx truly exploded onto the scene in 2004 with his Academy Award-winning portrayal of Ray Charles in the biopic ""Ray"". The highly praised role showed critics and fans alike that Foxx was a force to be reckoned with. Foxx's earlier work had been a series of hits and misses, with bright spots including his stint on the popular sketch comedy show ""In Living Color"" and his platinum album, ""Unpredictable"". Foxx's life was not always so golden, however. He grew up in the segregated town of Terrell, Texas, and had little contact with his birthparents. Raised by his grandparents, Foxx learned the value of hard work and believing in himself. Jamie Foxx tells the story of this rising star.
