SOPHIE PELHAM has been a graphic designer since 1992. A graduate of St Martins School of Art, she became a Senior Designer at Frances Lincoln Ltd. Since 2000 she has been working as a freelance designer and paper engineer, and in 2006 she set up Baobab Editorial and Design with Susan Reuben. She is also co-author of the innovative pop-up book Counting Creatures, published by Simon & Schuster both here and in the US. SUSAN REUBEN has been an editor since 1997. A Cambridge University graduate, she was Commissioning Editor at Frances Lincoln, then Senior Publisher at Egmont books before starting Baobab Editorial and Design with Sophie Pelham. She is co-editor of the Ultimate Book Guide series, the first of which won a Blue Peter Book Award. Susan also works as a ghostwriter and copywriter. Anne Fine is a bestselling author, former Children's Laureate and prize-winner with great profile across the trade, libraries and educational markets. Socorro AcioliSocorro was born in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. She is a journalist, has a master's degree in Brazilian literature and a PhD in Literary Studies. She started her writing career in 2001 and since then has published books of various genres, including children's short stories and YA novels. In 2006, she was selected to take part in a workshop conducted by the Nobel Prize Winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The author was selected by Garcia Marquez himself based on the synopsis for THE HEAD OF THE SAINT. In 2007, she was a visiting researcher at a university in Germany, and she has also lectured in several other countries such as Portugal, Bolivia and Cape Verde. His translation of THE BOOK OF CHAMELEONS by Jose Eduardo Agualusa won the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize in 2007. A former chair of the Translators Association, he is currently national programme director of the British Centre for Literary Translation, and a trustee of the free expression charity English PEN.
