Lola is a young Spanish girl in awe of her glamorous older sister. However, she discovers her own talent and duende, or spirit, through secret fandango lessons from her father. The text is infused with the rhythms, movements and sounds of the dance and the humanity of Lola's family is beautifully portrayed by Micha Archer's collage-paintings.

Anna Witte was born in Germany and grew up in Spain before moving to America where she has lived for the last 24 years. She has also written and illustrated The Parrot Tico Tango for Barefoot Books. Shahrukh Husain is an author and psychotherapist who specialises in film, women's studies and myth. Micha Archer has always loved the way words and pictures go together. Her illustrations are created using gouache, watercolor, penand ink and collage. She is influenced by her travels to West Africa, Mexico and Central America. She has also illustrated The Wise Fool for Barefoot Books.
