This is a lovely Christmas story about a bear who gets left behind in Santa's sleigh, but is determined that Madeleine, the little girl he was destined for, should not be disappointed on Christmas Day. After quite an adventure the little bear eventually reaches his destination, a little bedraggled perhaps, but exactly what a little girl called Madeleine wants. Anna Kiernan's illustrations are a delight from start to finish and her beautifully jolly, rotund Father Christmas is exactly what a Father Christmas should be. Everyone will be dreaming of owning a gorgeous teddy bear after reading this story. -- Miranda Warren
