Peter Harris was born in London 1933, and initially trained as an accountant before being encouraged by his wife to take up writing full-time. He wrote for television, radio, and children's comics, and well as writing numerous books for children. Doffy Weir always wanted to illustrate children's books and managed to get started by working for a publisher. An editor saw some of her drawings and asked her to illustrate a poetry book. She has been illustrating ever since. She has two grown-up children and lives in London, which she loves because it is full of different people from all over the world. Ann Jungman is a prolific children's author whose titles include the ever-popular Vlad the Drac and Leila's Magical Monster Party. Her first book for Frances Lincoln was Cinderella and the Hot Air Balloon, illustrated by Russell Ayto.
