This book is ideal for primary teachers with little or no experience of teaching music. It will also offer fresh ideas and inspiration to the most experienced music specialists. Teaching Key Stage 1 contains an entire scheme of work for pupils in Year 1 and Year 2, with a CD of performance and accompaniment tracks and photocopiable resources. The scheme has been devised by Ann Bryant to offer guidance for those with no formal musical training and build the confidence of all primary level teachers. The lesson plans are completely flexible and can accommodate mixed age and mixed ability groups, making them perfect for schools with more than one intake. Any teacher will benefit from Ann's broad experience and imaginative ideas and children will have fun singing the fun, original songs that have been incorporated into this structured and accessible set of lesson plans. Following Ann Bryant's training at the Royal College of music and her postgraduate course in Dalcroze Eurythmics, she has taught music movement and Drama to young people both here in the U.K and in Europe. For the last fifteen years Ann has specialised in Foundation and Key Stage 1, developing a unique and dynamic style of teaching. Author of the award-winning Teaching Key Stage 1 Music (best New Music Product - Music Industry Associations Awards 2002), she has also established a highly successful career as a children's author.

Teach and Play

I came across this resource when I started teaching about 7 years ago and although I've looked at other music teaching books, this is the one I use every week for the whole of KS1 in our school. It is just right! It's fun, easy to follow, progressive, all the lessons are memorable and fun to teach. I am a singer and a jazz musician too and to me Ann Bryant's book and CD is a must. Finally, I am not related to Ann!
