"The Unification of Germany, 1815-90" by Alan Farmer examines the complex political, social, and economic factors that led to the unification of Germany in the late 19th century. The book explores pivotal events, key figures like Otto von Bismarck, and the impact of the Napoleonic Wars on German states. It delves into the shifting alliances and nationalist movements that shaped German identity. Through analytical insights and historical contexts, Farmer discusses how the unification process culminated in the establishment of the German Empire in 1871, significantly altering the landscape of Europe and affecting international relations for generations.
