Pie Corbett is a freelance writer and poet. He was worked as an English Inspector in Gloucestershire, as an OFSTED Inspector, and has run training nationally for the NLS. Charles Causley was born in Cornwall, and apart from six years spent in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, lived there all his life. He was one of Britain's foremost poets, writing for both adults and children. He was awarded the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry in 1967 and appointed CBE in 1986. In 1987 he won the Kurt Maschler Award for Jack the Treacle Eater and in 1990 the Ingersoll/T. S. Eliot Award of America. Charles Causley died in 2003. After a highly successful career in teaching and school management, Ann Webley now combines writing - from NLS units to articles in the TES - with working with colleagues in a consultative capacity in the field of literacy teaching. She has worked for national bodies and advised at local and national level. After some years in the legal profession, Andrew Hammond retrained as a teacher and has taught English for ten years in schools across the south east of England. He has prepared boys and girls for the 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance and Scholarship exams as well as working as a Year 5 class teacher, Year 6 Coordinator, KS3 Coordinator and Head of English and Drama. Andrew is the Head of English and Drama at Copthorne Preparatory School and lives in Surrey with his wife and three young rascals.
