Ronda Armitage was born in the South Island of New Zealand in 1943 in a small town called Kaikoura. She is the author of many books for children, including the well-loved Lighthouse Keeper series of stories. Her more recent stories include A Very Strange Creature and A New Home for a Pirate. Andrew Gordon is a recent graduate of the celebrated MA illustration course at Cambridge. Wave the Flag and Blow the Whistle is his first picture book. Andrew lives and works in Middlesbrough.
