The "Oxford Mini School Dictionary" is the ideal portable dictionary for school use. It contains the complete text of the "Oxford Concise School Dictionary". Special features include: word origins to develop knowledge about language; and information panels giving guidance on usage, spelling and grammar. Features include: headwords in bold to find words easily; definitions are clear and accurate; up-to-date example sentences and phrases to show how words are used in context; parts of speech and inflections written out in full to build grammatical skills; introduction to show how to use the dictionary; and appendices include weights and measures and countries and peoples list.

There are 768 pages in this book. It is a dictionary. A dictionary is a single-volume or multivolume reference work containing brief explanatory entries for terms and topics related to a specific subject or field of inquiry, usually arranged alphabetically (example: Dictionary of Neuropsychology). The entries in a dictionary are usually shorter than those contained in an encyclopedia on the same subject, but the word "dictionary" is often used in the titles of works that should more appropriately be called encyclopedias (example: Dictionary of the Middle Ages in 13 volumes). This book was published 2002 by Oxford University Press .

Robert Allen was Editorial Director of Mensa Publications for ten years and a founder of Carlton Books' puzzle list. Published around the world, he has more than two dozen puzzle books to his credit. He lives close to Cambridge. Maurice Waite is the editor of The Oxford Spelling Dictionary and the seventh edition of the Little Oxford Dictionary. Edmund Weiner is Deputy Editor of the 20-volume Oxford English Dictionary. Andrew Delahunty is, with Edmund Weiner, editor of The Little Oxford Guide to English Usage.
