Activate is a new Key Stage 3 Science course for the 2014 curriculum, designed to support every student on their journey through Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 success. Kerboodle: Lessons, Resources and Assessment contains everything you need to spark students' curiosity in chemistry, whilst gradually building the maths, literacy and working scientifically skills vital for success in the new KS4 qualifications. Kerboodle: Lessons, Resources and Assessment is the digital component of Activate Chemistry. It contains customizable lesson presentations and plans for the new curriculum, supported by engaging practicals and interactives, plus comprehensive yet flexible assessment support for the new curriculum. Activate Chemistry has three units (C1, C2, and C3). C1 and C2 cover the Programme of Study in two years. Use C3 for a contextual consolidation and extension of content.

A key stage is any of the fixed stages into which the national curriculum is divided, each having its own prescribed course of study. At the end of each stage, pupils are required to complete standard assessment tasks. KS3 covers school years 7, 8 and 9, and ages 12-14 years. KS4 covers school years 10 and 11, and ages 15-16 years. This book is aimed at children in secondary school.

Victoria Stutt has been teaching since 2004, working across key stages and with experience of coordinating KS3. She is an experienced GCSE and A-Level author, and has written successful assessment titles for KS3. Victoria has an honours degree in Chemistry and a PGCE from the University of Sussex. Dr Andrew Chandler-Grevatt has a PhD in school assessment, and a real passion forscience teaching and learning. Having worked as a science teacher for ten years, of which five were spent as an AST, Andy has a real understanding of the pressures and joys of teaching in the classroom. Alongside his national and international research in school assessment, Andy is a teaching fellow on the PGCE course at the University of Sussex, and is a successful published assessment author.
