This pack is intended to provide students with information about their own reading and writing skills that will enable them to progress and achieve their full potential throughout Key Stage 3 and beyond. Preparation and Practice for the Year 7 English Tests provides essential practice, assessment and target-setting for the reading and writing skills needed for the Year 7 tests. This photocopiable pack provides a bank of practice tests that are modelled on the actual tests and informs students about the purpose of the tests and areas of assessment using a step-by-step approach. The pack is divided into five sections: Section A offers a diagnostic assessment of reading and writing skills to help students pinpoint their strengths and weaknesses, and identify areas where they need to improve. Section B takes students through the tests with a marker, so that they are fully informed about the purpose and format of the questions and assessment areas. Section C enables students to track their progress using reading and writing questions that focus on key skills, tasks and genres. Section D provides two full practice reading and writing tests that mirror the actual tests and can be used in timed conditions, enabling studenst to be fully prepared and approach the test with confidence. Section E includes self-assessment records so that students can track their progress through the year.
