Anastasia Suen is a children's literature consultant and a writing teacher online and at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX. Ezra Jack Keats (www. ezra-jack-keats. org), who died in 1983, was one of the first people to create a realistic, friendly, multi-ethnic urban setting in picture books for young children. His legacy lives on in the popularity of his most famous character, Peter - the star of The Snowy Day, Whistle for Willie, Peter's Chair, A Letter to Amy, Goggles , and others. Ruth Eitzen was a lifelong peace activist as well as a children's book author. She and her husband, Allan, led literacy workshops in Nepal and in her home town of Barto, Pennsylvania. She died in 2007. Allan Eitzen is the illustrator of a number of children's books.
