It is a lovely midsummer morning and just the day for Hare's adventure. In his new blue coat he rushes off visit the famous Toad, who lives in Ash Wood far over the other side of the valley. His way lies through Wise Owl's wood and there are many shady characters to be avoided, not least the gentleman in the fine red coat...Age appeal: 4+

Alison Uttley (1884-1976) said of her characters,"Why do children love them? Because I believe in them. "She grew up at Castle Top Farm in Derbyshire, and her passion for the countryside comes across vividly in her timeless Little Grey Rabbit stories. Margaret Tempest was a well known illustrator of children's books in England in the early part of this century. Her partnership with Alison Uttley on the Little Grey Rabbit books lasted for nearly 40 years.
